Update 1.25.21

If you haven't had a chance to read our 1.14.21 update about the event itself please take some time to do so when you have a chance! This update is to let you know we have reserved a block of rooms at the TownePlace Suites Marriott in the Beaumont area of Lexington. For those who are interested please see our "Travel Information" tab on the left for more information, or click this link to go to the hotel's reservation page. Thank you and we hope you're all doing well!

Update 1.14.21

HERE WE ARE NEARLY A YEAR LATER. We are still uncertain of what our reception will look at this time. Kentucky is working very hard to get vaccines out to everyone as quickly as possible. Hopefully by April, we will have PLENTY of vaccinated people attending the reception. We are not requiring anyone to be vaccinated or to get tested before attending the reception. That is stressful for you and we don't want a bouncer at our reception door. We hope everyone is practicing safe behaviors in their personal lives such as not gathering with large groups, wearing their mask when in public, using hand sanitizer/handwashing,  and self isolating if feeling sick or have been potentially exposed to Covid.

  • We still plan on setting up the reception with social distancing in mind. We will have plenty of hand sanitizer and face masks available to be on the safe side.

  • I plan on having color coordinated armbands available for everyone to wear upon entering to let those around you know if you have been vaccinated, if you are still being cautious, or if you would politely like to keep your distance from those not in your household. I hope this will help everyone feel comfortable to know who is approachable and who we can respect their personal space. Nothing more awkward than trying to hug or shake a hand of someone who doesn't want to be touched.

  • We were originally planning on having the food self serve but we will be asking Maria's Kitchen to be serving for us so there is less contact with the food and serving utensils. The plates, utensils, and drinkware will all be disposable.

  • We will be having a drive through option from 1-3pm for those who are wanting to avoid crowds of people or unable to attend the evening reception event. See "Reception" tab for more info.

If you have any additional accommodation requests or questions, we want to make sure everyone feels safe if you are wanting to attend, so please reach out to me and ask away! Thank you to everyone who has reached out to us this past year to check on us. I won't lie, it sucked having to cancel and reschedule everything but we are grateful to still be employed, safe, and healthy!

RSVP: If you have already RSVP’d and need to change your status or number attending or can't remember if you have RSVPd, fill out the RSVP again and we will disregard any previous RSVPs you have submitted.

Because getting a marriage license in another country is a whole hassle and a half, our plan originally was to get our marriage license at the courthouse in Lexington, KY but save our vows and ring exchange for Costa Rica. So we did that. We went to the courthouse March 4, 2020 with Mallory and Michael to be our witnesses as we legally became husband and wife. The statewide shutdown happened that next week including government offices and everyone not labeled essential or able to work from home and ended up lasting 10 weeks for most of the state. As the month progressed, we realized this was not going to be a short pandemic and our wedding ceremony was much farther out of reach as we began rescheduling our wedding ceremony/honeymoon and reception. We wanted to do something special for ourselves to celebrate our marriage since we didn't realize our courthouse date was now our new wedding anniversary date as opposed to the Costa Rica date. We met up with our wonderful local photographer, Simply Sabrina, to take pictures for us at a local park. We exchanged rings and had the day to ourselves. It was the most perfect, quiet, intimate time together in the midst of the uncertainty and madness around us. The next week, Covid restrictions shut down parks in Lexington. We sent out our Change the Date cards to everyone to inform of our delays. We attempted to reschedule our trip to Costa Rica for August but it ended up getting cancelled because the Costa Rician goverment was not allowing travelers from the United States at that time. We have booked our flights and resort stay for the week after the reception (April 21-30, 2021).

We have had a few people ask about last name change so here is our current situation with that: Until we are able to use our passports to travel to Costa Rica, Sarah's last name is still Tolliver. We will work on changing it once our travels have concluded so we won't have any discrepancies or issues with everything working a bit slower right now.

The registry is in two different places on this website. The one at the top of the page is a link for only our honeymoon registry. The tab on the side that says "registry" has links to our Target and Amazon registries and our venmo accounts.
